  • Overview

    Social Skills Group leaders are responsible for running social skills groups of 2-5 children at the center, using ABA methodology.  Group leaders run group activities based on Advances' social skills group curriculum, collect data, graph, implement behavior support plans, and provide direction and feedback to the social skills group assistant.

    Responsibilities

     

    The The Social Skill Group Leader will be responsible for the following:

     

    • Setting up a weekly report for each group s/he is in charge of and printing one copy for each student, one copy to make notes on, and one copy for the records.
    • Making sure that each week’s lesson targets the identified goals and objectives of each group, using ALC curriculum.
    • Making token boards, visual prompts, and other materials during the weekly planning time.
    • Running the group in a thoughtful and humane manner.
    • Ensuring the safety of all students.
    • Take data on each group objective or managing data-collection by assistants.
    • Graphing data for each student for each group weekly.
    • Providing true, thorough, and concise verbal reports to parents each week (3-4 minutes each). 
    • Writing operational definitions of any interfering behaviors that students may display during sessions, beginning baseline data immediately, and calling the behavior analysts’ attention to the matter as soon as possible. 
    • Consistently implementing behavior plans written by the behavior analyst. 
    • Providing direction, support, and feedback to assistants.
    • Writing progress reports for each student at the end of each quarter, including the following: objective, baseline data, teaching procedure, current prompt level, and current data.
    • Advising PPC of scheduling changes or PD of employment changes 8 weeks in advance.
    • Reporting for work in a timely manner.
    • Calling in sick as soon as possible (see Sick Time policy).
    • Asking for supervision and help whenever needed.

    Qualifications

    • Minimum 3 years of ABA experience.  Less ABA experience may be considered for individuals with solid experience in ALC’s groups who are also pursuing BCBA.  ABA skills must be excellent, but we will train on how to run ALC groups.
    • Minimum 1 year classroom and/or group instruction experience.
    • Responsible and reliable, creative and engaging with children
    • Excellent interpersonal / social skills, able to connect easily and quickly with people. 
    • Able to communicate effectively with parents, including in difficult situations.
    • Organized and efficient, detail-oriented, able to multi-task.
